The Water Chain, owned by a married couple, was established in 2018. In 2013, Ophelia (CEO) and her partner moved to the Adjuah community and identified a recurring issue of water scarcity in the area. They decided to take action in 2018 by constructing an underground reservoir capable of holding 80,000 to 100,000 liters of water, along with four wells and a filtration system using reverse osmosis technology. As the years passed, the demand for clean drinking water continued to rise, prompting an upgrade to a mechanized borehole combined with the reverse osmosis filtration system, which remains in operation. The company uses the reverse osmosis filtration system to provide purified drinking water, which is sold in buckets. While many companies employ this process for bottled and sachet water, The Water Chain also offers door-to-door delivery via a tricycle. The Water Chain has achieved several recognitions and accomplishments, including being the winner of the Startup Takoradi competition, graduating from the SNV Green Incubation Program, and receiving certification from the Trade Export School. Looking ahead, the company’s future goals revolve around supplying purified drinking water to all the rural communities in the Ahanta West Municipal area, which also face challenges related to the scarcity of clean drinking water. The Water Chain is fundamentally a family-owned business with a core mission to ensure that consumers have access to clean and affordable water of the right quality and quantity. The company is committed to elevating the value of water and making it equally accessible to all living beings, both now and in the future.
